Book Club

I was in a book club once. Well, twice, actually. Please tell me I’m not the only one on the planet who doesn’t think an Oprah sticker means it’s awesome. I mean, I admire Oprah, and all she’s done for um, a buncha OTHER people BESIDES me, but she has put me through some h-e-double-hockeysticks in book clubs. You cannot argue with “But . . . OPRAH LOVED IT!!!”

Believe me, I’ve tried.

    • I love Oprah, but man, do people ever use her to smack you down if you disagree with one of her choices! I do like Wally Lamb – and I DID like She’s Come Undone. However, my Nutrasweet-ridden brain makes me forget most fiction quickly. Except for Dracula. And I’m not quite sure that’s fiction . . . 😉

  1. Ha ha! Love that. An Oprah Club sticker tells me NOT to read the book. I’ve read a couple of them and I must have very different tastes. I’m more of a Pride and Prejudice and Zombies kinda girl. Can you imagine O announcing that one on her list? And what was with her Dickens choices last Christmas.? Dickens is my favorite, but A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations over the holidays? Why not A Christmas Carol and David Copperfield? Something that makes you feel LESS like killing yourself for Christmas. Any way… Congrats on the new blog!

    • Karen, can you even believe I haven’t read P&P&Z yet?!! As much as I love me some Jane Austen AND the undead?!! I’m actually reading Tale of Two Cities for the first time in my life – at the recommendation of my son! I do love Dickens. In theory, anyway!!
